In 2021, Baden-Baden was selected for the UNESCO World Heritage List under the heading "Great Spa Towns of Europe". In the course of an overall renovation of the listed Kurhaus Baden-Baden, the restaurant "Hectors", named after the composer Hector Berlioz, was modernised to a high standard.
An interplay of elegant elements and historical inventory, complemented by a new lighting concept, exudes cosiness, contemporary spirit and exclusivity. The local reference to the Black Forest becomes tangible through the colour scheme and allows the identity of the surroundings to flow into the design concept.
Schatz + Lichtdesign from Stuttgart was responsible for the overall lighting design of the restaurant in the Kurhaus. The comfortable lounge area with its ceiling cubes, in matching colours to the interior design, attracts special attention. «The VIOR bold lamps convince with their dual lighting effect. The high indirect light component illuminates the cubes evenly, while the brilliant, direct light component highlights the exclusive materials in rich contrast. The round luminaire shape also skilfully accentuates the predominantly square ceiling elements,» explains Mr. Schatz regarding the choice of lamp.
